Brushes Palette

So, the last but not least parameter in Options palette is Brushes palette. One doesn’t know where to look first after opening this palette (item 1). But we will try not to be tempted and to explore this palette slowly and methodically.

In the left side of this palette you see various parameters allowing to adjust brush stroke shape. Let’s enumerate them briefly:

Brush Presets (item 2)— brush presets which you’ve already faced in the Options palette.

Brush Tip Shape— adjustment of brush shape. In figure you can see adjustments of this parameter for brush stroke. Such parameters as Diameter (item 3), Angle (item 4) and Roundness (item 5) are saying for themselves. Play with them and you’ll see it. Checkboxes Flip X and Flip Y (item 6) allow to flip brush relative to corresponding axes. The picture of a brush in the form of circle (or ellipse) (item 7) allows to control the change of brush shape visually. More over you can change the brush shape right through it by dragging black points in the upper and bottom part of a circle. Spacing (item 8) parameter allows to draw discrete strokes and is measured in percents of brush diameter.

Shape Dynamics— dynamic changing brush shape in a process of dab. Here you can adjust a jitter of brush size, angle and roundness. Each of these parameters has a Control list where you can choose the way of its altering.

Scattering— paint spraying in a process of drawing. It has such parameters as Scatter, Both Axes, Count and Count Jitter.

Texture — overlaying a texture on a brush. Texture may be scaled with the help of parameter Scale. To intensify or decay its action you may with the help of parameter Depth.

Dual Brush — creating a «dual brush», where the current brush defines brush shape and the brush selected in this option defines the kind of stroke, i.e. the second brush defines a texture for the first.

Color Dynamics — dynamic changing a color in a process of drawing.

Other Dynamics— other changes of brush parameters in a process of drawing.

There are five checkboxes below:
Noise —adding noise to brush shape.
Wet Edges— imitation brush with wet edges.
Airbrush —airbrush mode.
Smoothing —smoothing lines.
Protect Texture— all brushes use one texture sample.

You see, such a huge amount parameters can satisfy anyone’s fantasy.
